My happy place almost always involves food. From backpacking solo through South America, becoming a restaurant reviewer in Scotland or making the very best use of my per diems whilst working as a travelling PA to a celebrity, I am constantly seeking new foodie experiences as well finding comfort in the familiar.
My 8 year old daughter Piper seems to have inherited not only my incurable wanderlust, but my insatiable curiosity for food. Watching her tastebuds develop has done nothing to curb my enthusiasm and she has become my favourite travel buddy, dining companion, sous-chef and critic!
We load our camping gear into the car any chance we get and have been lucky enough to stay in some spectacular settings. We often drag unseasoned campers along in the form of friends and family and have found the way to convert them to the joys of camping and glamping is to ensure they eat well!
I began planning menus, assigning shopping lists and jobs, prepping food and batch-cooking to ensure dinner around the fire-pit was always memorable. It was on a summers evening, curled up in a folding chair in a field, sipping wine and toasting marshmallows that the idea for Glamp Gourmet was conceived. Making that dream a reality has been harder and more rewarding than I could have ever imagined.
